The Chamwell Centre is a ground-breaking new facility for disabled children and adults across Gloucestershire.
Evans Jones has committed its fundraising efforts to help The Chamwell Centre raise money to purchase specialist equipment and support the running of the centre once it opens later this year. The partnership will see the team at Evans Jones working alongside the charity to arrange events, activities and challenges to raise vital funds for the project.
The Chamwell Centre Charity is building an exciting and much needed new facility in the grounds of The Milestone School, Gloucester that will support the needs of disabled children and adults across the county. The new centre will provide fully accessible therapies, leisure, sport and work experience to everyone, no matter what their level of need. A state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool, alongside a range of other facilities will be available to the pupils of The Milestone School and the wider community outside of school hours.
Evans Jones have been involved with The Chamwell Centre since its early stages, project managing the design and build of the facility and providing cost management services with local firm Speller Metcalfe, as building contractor.
David Jones, Managing Director and Head of Planning at Evans Jones commented:
“We are delighted to have been involved with this fantastic project to enable The Chamwell Centre Charity to achieve their vision of a fully-inclusive facility. With our existing links to the project, it felt like the perfect fit to partner with The Chamwell Centre as our Charity of the Year for 2020.”
Head of Project Consultancy at Evans Jones, Peter Belton, who has been project managing the build of The Chamwell Centre, commented:
“It has been a pleasure to work alongside The Chamwell Centre Charity to get this project off the ground and we look forward to seeing it open later this year. We are thrilled to be able to foster an ongoing relationship with Chamwell by continuing to support the centre beyond building completion with our fundraising efforts.”
Dr Marie Owen, Chair of The Chamwell Centre Charity said:
“The Chamwell Centre is proud to have been chosen by Evans Jones as their Charity of the Year for 2020. The pupils attending the Milestone school and other members of the community who will benefit from the facilities of the Chamwell Centre will greatly value Evans Jones involvement, as part of the team delivering this exciting and innovative service.
We are delighted that the building is scheduled to open to the School and the public later this year. But our fundraising task does not end here. We now need to pay for the upkeep of the building, for specialist equipment and for the professionals, therapists and support staff who will run the services in the Chamwell Centre. The support of Evans Jones in raising funds and supporting the work of the Chamwell Centre will be greatly valued. Our very great thanks to all at Evans Jones”.
Evans Jones has already raised over £1000 for the charity by fundraising over the Christmas period and contributing to the charity’s ‘buy a brick’ campaign, which will feature a personalised brick in the final building. The team plan to continue adding to this total across the year with a range of events and personal challenges.
